SFLIC Recognizes Recent HR Legislative Award

Selected | Superior Funeral and Life Insurance Company recognizes recent HR Legislative award to Tara Arthur

Hot Springs, Arkansas – October 11, 2021

Selected Funeral and Life Insurance Company | Superior Funeral and Life Insurance Company in Mississippi (SFLIC) is pleased to announce that Tara E. Mauk Arthur, PHR, SHRM-CP, FLMI, CPC has been awarded the 2021 Russell Gunter Legislative Advocacy Award by the Arkansas Society of Human Resource Management (ARSHRM).

This coveted award was a highlight of ARSHRM’s annual state HR Conference & Expo held in Rogers, Arkansas, on September 30. The award recognizes the Arkansas HR professional who has made outstanding contributions of time and effort in local, state, or federal legislative advocacy on behalf of the Human Resources profession. The award is in memory of the late Russell A. Gunter, an Arkansas attorney and expert in employment law who spearheaded early efforts to promote legislative advocacy by the HR profession, including ARSHRM’s Employment Law & Legislative Affairs (ELLA) Conference. Russell remained active in advocacy initiatives until his death in 2013. Tara worked closely with Russell over the years to organize and elevate the ELLA Conference to its unique status today among the ARSHRM conferences.

Tara, a resident of Hot Springs and employed by SFLIC since 1996, serves the company as Senior Vice President, Corporate Services Division, and oversees the Human Resources and Compliance functions. In 2007, Tara was named Arkansas HR Professional of the Year, and in 2012 was featured on the cover of HR Professionals Magazine and was the subject of that issue’s “profile” article.

A long-time volunteer for the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Tara has served in numerous positions, including the Membership Advisory Council (MAC) representative for SHRM Southwest Central Region, ARSHRM State Director, ARSHRM Legislative Director, ARSHRM State Conference Chair, ARSHRM ELLA Conference Chair, West Central Arkansas SHRM (WCASHRM) Chapter President, and WCASHRM Managers Seminar Chair.
