For more than half a century, SFLIC has been a leader in designing and providing funeral insurance programs for the funeral profession that serves its clientele, the policyowners. Over the years, SFLIC has come to mean leadership, competitive projects, exceptional service, marketing support, and an old-fashioned sense of loyalty and dedication to our clientele.

Our story began in 1960...

When three leading Arkansas funeral directors wanted to further meet the needs they were seeing in families in their communities. To help “their families” more easily cope with funeral and other final expenses, they considered forming a life insurance company that could provide small face amount policies. From the first meeting, the group of funeral directors soon grew to 40, and Selected Funeral and Life Insurance Company was born. SFLIC’s purpose, providing for this unique need and niche of the insurance market, is what SFLIC has been doing ever since.

Today, SFLIC, with corporate offices located in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, is a leading insurer specializing in final expense and pre-need life insurance. We understand insurance and its value for our clientele. We are also proud that SFLIC was an early innovator in advanced funeral planning insurance.

SFLIC is well recognized for its strong leadership in serving the funeral profession and its solid financial foundation. We are proud that today SFLIC’s Board of Directors continues to reflect leading funeral homes and experienced insurance management. We are focused on the funeral profession’s interests and needs and actively participate in numerous funeral service events throughout the year.

The company has a home office of approximately 50 staff members, and currently conducts business in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Mississippi where we conduct business as Superior Funeral and Life Insurance Company. Our historical home office building is a strong visual reminder of our solid foundation and legacy of excellence. Our dynamic daily operations help fuel our enthusiasm for the future.

In 1991, SFLIC’s corporate office building (the old historic U.S. Post Office) was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. That same year, SFLIC was presented an award for Outstanding Accomplishment in Historic Preservation by the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas.

The restoration of our beautiful building was written about by Hot Springs Life & Home magazine in their article "Restoring the Glory."
